On the 10th tee, young Jimmer hit an unbelievable banana slice off the box that was so off target it didn't even threaten anyone in the gallery. Barkley followed him by hitting the ball straight sideways. A great moment in celebrity golf, for sure.

Coming into draft season, I was as skeptical of Jimmer Fredette as anyone. After his interview here in Sacramento, most of my concerns were alleviated. For starters, he is bigger in person than I expected and without question, he will have no issue getting off his shot at the next level. There will be some growing pains on the defensive end, but effort won’t be an issue and neither will scheming.

The Sacramento Kings need a new arena and they need to start winning. But if the Kings’ owners are serious about trying to keep the franchise in Sacramento, they also need a star who can help them build back their fan support. They think they found one in Jimmer Fredette.

The Sacramento coaching staff isn't happy with the selection of Fredette, sources say. They wanted a veteran guard, ala Felton or Parker.

The Adam Morrison: Jimmer Fredette turns out to be incapable of creating his own shot against NBA defenders and contributes nothing else in any aspect of the game. He is traded to the Heat for a 12-pack of socks and wins only one NBA championship, failing to match Morrison's star turn on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Would the Jazz really pass on [Kemba] Walker, a guy who they seriously considered at No. 3, to take the hometown hero? I don't think so. I think if both players are on the board, the Jazz would take Kemba.

Fredette is sort of like a Heisman winning college quarterback who piled up yardage in a spread offense. He may turn out to be a capable starter, but he may also look helpless when separated from the circumstances under which he flourished

Fredette's potential is a hotly debated topic. Some wonder what position he will play in the NBA. A shade under 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Jimmer has the body of an NBA point guard. But concerns over his playmaking and a pedestrian assist-to-turnover ratio have led some scouts to wonder if he can handle the role of primary ballhandler at the next level.
