Between [Rashard] Mendenhall's tweets and Art Rooney's inane response, my days of turning to the NFL for nuanced political analysis are over. SI's Ben Reiter(via Twitter) . Mendenhall has just posted a follow-up to his tweets on his blog, along with some apologies, but also a bit of defiance of his many critics. (As pointed out by many, he ignores his most contentious/ridiculous claim about the planes on 9/11, the only one of his tweets he actually deleted.)

We’ve been keeping a close eye on the Twitter page of Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall for any further messages addressing his eyebrow-raising comments from Monday regarding Osama bin Laden and 9/11. Though no new messages have appeared, Mendenhall quietly has censored one of his tweets. Mike Florio(via ProFootballTalk) . Mendenhall's tweet that put him into a spotlight he probably didn't want (but wasn't so freaked by that he deleted his tweets until after a full news cycle had gone by): "We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style."
